Hold AI content to your product facts
VectraSEO checks every generated article before it can publish. The truth layer extracts its factual claims and checks each against the cited source, your own site, the Product Facts in your Content Brief and, for Custom API sites, your product-capabilities.json file. It repairs or softens what it cannot confirm. A draft with claims that still cannot be confirmed is held for review instead of published, and you can remove those claims in one step.

What the truth layer does
The truth layer runs on every generated article, after the content-quality checks and before publishing:
- Extract — Pulls out the article’s factual claims and the URLs they cite.
- Fetch — Reads the cited sources. Claims about your own product are also checked against your site, your capability file and your Product Facts.
- Verify — Judges each claim as supported, unsupported or unverifiable against that evidence.
- Recover — Runs a Google Search grounded check on anything not yet supported.
- Repair — Adds a real citation or softens a sentence it still cannot support.
- Re-assess — Checks the repaired article again and writes the truth report shown on the post.
What holds a draft
A draft is held for review, not published, when a claim is confidently unsupported, when it states another product’s current capability that could not be confirmed, or when it makes more claims than the check could cover. Writers describe competitors by approach and positioning only, and state another product’s capabilities only beside a link to its vendor docs.
Publish a product capability file
If your project publishes through the Custom API, you can host a JSON file at /.well-known/product-capabilities.json listing which of your product’s capabilities are supported, unsupported, planned, beta, deprecated or unknown. VectraSEO only accepts it from your own registrable domain, only as a JSON object, and only when it names your product. An HTML page served at that path never counts.

}How to hold generated content to your product facts
Fill in the Content Brief
Open your project’s Settings and go to Content & Brand. In the Content Brief card, fill in Target Persona, Brand Voice, Product Facts (one per line), Topics To Avoid and Title Guidelines, then select Save Changes. Product Facts are the only capabilities articles may claim about your product, and Topics To Avoid are never suggested or written about.
Choose a Publishing Quality Bar
In Generate & quality, pick Strict, Default, Casual or Custom. A post that fails the bar is held for review instead of published, and Strict refuses claim-stripped output.
Publish a capability file (Custom API)
Host product-capabilities.json under /.well-known/ on your own domain, or enter its address in Capability Contract URL in the publishing settings.
Add a destination capability guard (Custom API, optional)
Turn on the destination capability guard and fill in Product / Brand Subject, Unsupported claims, Allowed qualifiers and a Review reason. A post claiming one of those unsupported capabilities is held, and reviewers see your reason.
Read the truth report on a post
Open a post. The Agent Truth Layer card shows the Truth score, the number of Supported, Unsupported and Unverified claims, and every Fact-checked claim with its verdict.
Release a held draft
On a held post, under What you can do, select Remove unconfirmed claims and re-check. Only the sentences that could not be confirmed are removed, then every check runs again. To keep the text, choose Or re-check the claims without removing anything.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Content Brief?
An optional set of rules on your project: target persona, brand voice, product facts, topics to avoid and title guidelines. It constrains both which topics VectraSEO suggests and how each article is written.
What should I put in Product Facts?
One real capability of your product per line. Articles may claim only the capabilities you list, and the truth layer treats them as evidence for claims about your own product, which reduces held drafts. Where your site and your Product Facts disagree, your site wins.
Does a held draft ever publish on its own?
Not with claims that could not be confirmed. It stays held until those claims are removed or confirmed. Remove unconfirmed claims and re-check deletes only those sentences and re-runs every check; if the draft then passes, it publishes according to your project settings.
Do I need a capability file?
No. It is optional and applies to projects publishing through the Custom API. Without it, claims about your product are checked against your site and your Product Facts.
Which plans include the truth layer?
It runs on every article VectraSEO generates, and generation needs a paid plan or an active trial. You can fill in the Content Brief on any plan.
