Track whether ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini cite you
VectraSEO’s AI Visibility monitor sends the prompts you choose to ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly schedule. For every prompt and assistant it records whether the answer cites your domain or names your brand, where the brand first appears, which sources the answer used and which competitors it named. Results roll up into a citation rate, share of voice and a visibility score you can follow from scan to scan.

How each assistant is asked
Each assistant is queried with web search switched on, so the answer reflects what it can find about you today.
- ChatGPT — OpenAI Responses API with web search.
- Claude — Anthropic Messages API with its web search tool.
- Gemini — Gemini with Google Search grounding.
What is recorded for each answer
Every prompt-and-assistant pair in a scan keeps the answer text, the source URLs the answer cited, whether your brand was cited, the sentence where it first appears, and the competitors the answer named.
By default an answer counts as cited only when your domain is among its sources or appears in the answer (Domain match only). You can switch a monitor to Domain or name mention, which also counts a mention of your brand name.
Share of voice compares your citations with competitor mentions across the scan. An optional alert emails your recipients when the visibility score drops by 10 or more points.
How to set up an AI Visibility monitor
Open AI Visibility
Open your project’s Overview and select the AI Visibility tile, then select New monitor (or Create your first monitor).
Choose assistants and cadence
Give the monitor a name. Under “Which assistants should we query?” keep ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini selected, or clear any you do not need. Pick a Cadence of Weekly, Bi-weekly or Monthly, then select Continue.
Add the prompts to track
Under Prompts to track, enter one question per line, up to 25. Use the questions your customers ask. Suggestions based on your project can be edited or deleted.
Confirm your brand and competitors
Check Brand domain, Brand aliases / names, Competitor domains and Competitor names. These are pre-filled from your project. Optionally add Alert recipients, then select Save monitor.
Run the first scan
Select Run first scan or Scan now. Later scans run on the cadence you chose, and you can still select Scan now at any time when no scan is running.
Read the results
The citation heatmap shows every prompt against every assistant. Select a cell to read the answer, its Sources cited and the competitors it named. Citation rate and Share of voice sit above it, and Improvement over time starts after the second scan.
