Rank Tracker

Keyword Rank Tracker

The Rank Tracker records where your site appears in Google for the keywords you choose, once a day, with a 30-day trend per keyword and a weekly list of keywords that just reached the top 10. Positions are for the domain in your project's Website URL setting.

Add keywords

  1. 01Open your project and click the Keyword Ranks card.
  2. 02Under Tracked keywords, type a keyword and click Add keyword, or click + Track next to one of the Suggested keywords.
  3. 03Click Fetch now for a first reading; results land within a few minutes. After that, keywords refresh daily on their own.

Suggested keywords come from Search Console when it is connected: queries your site already gets impressions for but you are not tracking, favoring positions 4 to 30, where a small improvement can reach page one. Without Search Console they come from market keyword data or from your project's products and industry. Keywords you already track are left out.

Where positions come from

LABEL
SOURCE
GSC
Google Search Console, used when it is connected to a property that matches your domain. The position is Google's average position for that query over the last few days, rounded (2.6 shows as #3). Search Console data lags 2-3 days.
LIVE
A live Google results lookup, used when Search Console is not connected or has no data for the keyword (common for keywords you do not rank for yet). It checks the top 100 results.

When the project's Geographic Focus is empty or Global, live lookups use Google's default results (United States).

What the table shows

YOU SEE
MEANING
#1, #2, …
Your position. Lower is better: #1 is the top organic result.
—
Not found: outside the top 100 live results, or no Search Console data for the query.
⚠ fetch failed
The keyword could not be checked that day. Hover for the reason. The next daily fetch tries again.
scan pending
The 30-day trend line appears once a keyword has two readings.
Top 10 wins this week
Keywords now in the top 10 that were outside it, or had no reading, 7 days ago, with the old and new position.

Cadence and limits

  • Daily. A project with tracked keywords is fetched again once its latest reading is more than 24 hours old; the page shows Auto-refresh: daily with the last run. Fetch now queues a fetch immediately and answers with a job_id.
  • History. The page shows 30 days. Readings are kept for 90 days, and GET /ranks?days= accepts 1 to 90.
  • Keywords. Up to 200 characters, as a plain term or short phrase. A keyword with more than 3 site: operators is rejected, because Google refuses queries that complex and the keyword would fail every day.
  • Plan. Rank tracking has no plan gate and no per-plan keyword cap.

Over the API, see the Keyword Rank Tracker reference. Adding and removing keywords take projects:write; a manual fetch takes jobs:write. To remove a keyword, URL-encode it in the path.
